This plant will manufacture the new electric vehicle Mahindra XUV.e and BE electric SUVs. Mahindra announced on Wednesday that it has been approved by the Maharashtra government to build a manufacturing facility for electric cars in Pune, under its electric vehicle industrial promotion scheme.

- This investment will take place over a period of 7-8 years.
- An electric SUV based on INGLO technology will be manufactured here by Mahindra.
This project will be undertaken by the company’s subsidiary over a period of 7-8 years through its subsidiary. At this plant, Mahindra will manufacture its upcoming Born Electric Vehicles (BEVs) – some of which were showcased in the UK on August 15 – and develop and manufacture them.
In a statement, INGLO said the brand-new electric-only vehicle brand called BE will be built on the INGLO platform, which offers state-of-the-art electric vehicles, including e-SUVs under the iconic XUV brand. The approval from the government is greatly appreciated that the Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. executive director, Auto & Farm Sectors, Rajesh Jejurikar, expressed his thanks to the Maharashtra government for setting up the EV Manufacturing Plant in Pune.

We are very grateful to the Government of Maharashtra for its continued support. Through the Government’s focus on ‘ease-of-doing-business’ and progressive policies, and Mahindra’s investment, Maharashtra will become India’s EV hub, attracting further Indian and foreign direct investments.”
A number of design tweaks have been made to the vehicle to distinguish it from other electric vehicles. The new bumper includes LED light bars that drop down into the bumper, and the front grille has been closed off. Additionally, the front face is angularly cut, bumper mounted headlamps are fitted and the bonnet has a sharp contour while the rear end is very similar to that of the ICE-powered XUV700, the front end is much more distinctive.

In terms of dimensions, Mahindra has revealed the vehicle’s length is 4,740mm, width is 1,900mm, and height is 1,760mm. It will have a 2,762 mm wheelbase. Thus, the XUV.e8 will be 45mm longer, 10mm wider, 5mm taller, and have a 7mm longer wheelbase than the XUV700.
