Yamaha’s popular small-capacity sports bike, the Yamaha R3, has received minor updates for the 2023 model year. The most notable changes include sleek LED indicators borrowed from Yamaha’s larger models, as well as a new purple colour option.

Underpinnings and Features
While the updates are mostly cosmetic, the Yamaha R3 remains mechanically unchanged with a liquid-cooled, 321cc parallel-twin engine producing 42hp at 10,750rpm and 29.5Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine is housed in a diamond frame and is supported by a 37mm USD fork and preload-adjustable mono-shock, both of which are supplied by KYB.

Other features on the Yamaha R3 include a slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, all-LED lighting, and an LCD display. However, it’s important to note that some of its competitors come with more advanced TFT displays.
India Launch and Competition
The R3’s return to the Indian market is highly anticipated, and it will face stiff competition from the likes of the KTM RC 390, BMW G 310 RR, and Kawasaki Ninja 400. Yamaha has not yet confirmed the launch date for the Yamaha R3 in India, but it is expected to be launched soon.
Overall, Yamaha has given its fans and enthusiasts a good reason to be excited about the R3’s upcoming launch in India with these minor updates.
